Lifecore Corebell 5-55-Pound Adjustable Dumbbell System Review
Who ever said that a good set of dumbbells had to be pretty? After all, if it is bulk that you are looking to add to your arms, it's the final results that matter right? If this is an ethos you are happy to live by - the Lifecore Corebell 5-55lbs Adjustable Dumbbell System may be the perfect set for you.
We will start this review by looking at the main features on the Corebell System, followed by the issues we found when we tried the system out for ourself.

Weight Range.
The weight range for the LifeCore system is 5lbs to 55lbs. This represents a 50lbs differential, and makes it a fairly mid range product. The top weight of 55lbs is certainly enough to achieve muscle mass gain, whilst the minimum weight is acceptable for muscle toning and rehabilitation training.
Slide / Lock Mechanism.
Unlike the typical pin locking or dial mechanism employed on most adjustable dumbbell sets these days, the Lifecore Corebell system uses a slide and lock (snap lock) system, which ensures maximum safety for the user. Once locked in place, the mechanism is unable to come loose "by accident" - minimizing the dangers of dumbbell use.
Other features worthy of a mention include the 2.5lbs weight increments throughout the entire 50lbs range and a 5 year warranty on the handles.
The other thing we liked about this set is that the weights felt solid and durable - and whilst it doesn't look particularly pretty, it definitely does what it is meant to do.
Issues with the LifeCore CoreBell 5-55lbs System
The only thing which lets this product down is the handle on the bars. Unlike almost every other dumbbell set on the market - the handles are made from strengthened plastic - which is a big no-no on any type of weight lifting equipment. It absolutely baffles us to think that a manufacturer would even consider using plastic for a product which was entirely meant for weight lifting.
If you are confident that the 5 year warranty will be enough to cover you for any breakages which might occur to the handles - you should be fine. But if you are someone who throws the warranty card straight in to the bin as soon as the product is unwrapped, you might like to think again.
We do know of a few users who have experienced cracking or even snapping of the handles at higher weights, so we recommend that you take a bit of extra care if you are constantly lifting heavy amounts. Other than this issue - the PowerCore CoreBell dumbbells are a great purchase, and will no doubt be a core part of any home gym.
